Gratuitous contract
Meaning: Also known as a contract without consideration, is a legal agreement where one party makes a promise without receiving anything of value in return.
Sentence: In other words, one party is providing a benefit or making a commitment without receiving any compensation or benefit in return. These types of contracts are generally enforceable, although they may not be as strong as contracts where both parties are receiving something of value. Examples of gratuitous contracts include gifts and promises made out of charity or generosity.
